Welcome to the USS White Dove

Welcome to the home base for the U.S.S. White Dove, a Nebula Class explorer-cruiser and proud member of Exodus Fleet's Task Force 44 (Greymist), Task Group Spectre.

Launched on 4 July 2384 from the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, Mars, Star Fleet has assigned to the ship a patrol route that extends from the Talarian Space along the Federation border down past the Kzinti Patriarchy to the Pleiadies and Tauras Dark Cloud sectors.

Within this region, Star Fleet has delivered to the ship's captain, Captain Shiloh Steele, the following standing orders:

  • Support the strong colonization effort intended for this region by regular visits to existing colonies to render aid, deliver goods, and check on the overall welfare of the colonists

  • Transport of new colonies as required.

  • Support the new space station being built in this area.

  • Map and explore beyond the frontier to expand the Federation's sphere of influence and open up new resources and new worlds for colonization.

  • Track down and stop the well-entrenched smuggling, slavery, and pirate operations in the region.

  • Monitor and meet any threats to the peace in the region.

The White Dove is rated for deep space exploration and requires resupply once every three years. As such, exploration of uncharted areas of space is well within its mission parameters. Then too, with state-of-art weaponry and shields as well as an experienced Captain and crew, the Dove serves as a strong military presence to support the Federation in a region of space where the rule of law has become somewhat 'flexible' over the years.

Guests are welcome to belly up to the bar, order themselves a Raktajino, and then have a look around. You can read about our adventures, have a look at our growing database, or check the statistics on the Dove. Interested in joining us on our adventures? Great! Take a look at our list of available positions and then get in touch. New players are always welcome.

Settling In

Hi, y'all.

To help us stay on the same page during missions, we're making a couple of changes:

1. Koe has started to update the Mission Notes. Click Show/Hide at the top of the posting screen. There you will find information on characters as well as summary of events as they occurred from day to day.
2. I will start sending out the plan for the week. This will list the current subplots that are going on as well as any major events that have been agreed upon.

This week's plan:

-- Move over to the Tecumseh website and settle in.
-- Write your character's arrival on Utopia Planitia and transfer to the Tecumseh. You're plank owners on the new ship but crew that the captain knows, so no need to report in.
-- Have fun getting to know the ship and join the celebration when the new ship is christened. Dress white are expected.
-- Work up any off-duty subplots that interest you -- or wait until we get to DS9 where we will spend a few days before departure to the Gamma Quadrant. NOTE: We are NOT going through the wormhole. The idea is to explore the area that borders our own quadrant. That will be our mission area.
-- Finish any leftover posts from the old mission, Blood of the Innocent. If you can't finish by next Saturday, let me know so that I can keep the mission open. Otherwise, Blood of the Innocent closes on Saturday.

Well, we've reached the end of another mission. In a short while, I'll be sending out the summary/wrap up post which signals the end of the mission. The difference between this and other missions is that this time, the new mission will start on our new website:

http://www.uss-tecumseh.com

Web Genius will be spending today moving over all of our posts, bios, etc. so that you'll be able to log on and write as usual. While there will be a new, active mission, I will leave this one open for a few days in case any of you have final thoughts or posts you want to get in.

How will this work? Web Genius will send you a message saying not to post on either site while he works on the transfer. When he's finished, I'll send out an announcement from the new site. Then it'll be time for you to log onto the Tecumseh site and sim yourselves moving over from the Montoya to our new ship, the Tecumseh.

For those of you who have decided to switch characters, that will be the time to write yourselves coming on board the new ship and settling in. Remember that on the new ship, all officers have private quarters (there are pictures and descriptions of the various types in the ship's tour).

Also on the new ship site, is our brand-new WIKI. Big thanks to Koe and Rune for their work on preparing the look and feel of both the game site and the WIKI site. Nicely done.

The WIKI will have sections for all of your characters, both primary and NPC. This will be place for you to elaborate on your character(s) lives and include as many pictures as you'd like. Don't worry if your WIKI-challenged like me. Web Genius says that he'll have a template and its really just a matter of filling in the blanks.

See y'all on the Tecumseh!

To all players of Exodus Fleet,

The Articles of the Fleet require a Non-Command Officer player to be on the council from each Task Force. So, if you are a player that does not have a command anywhere in Exodus Fleet and are interested in representing the other players in Task Force 44 email me at: co@tf44.org to have your name put on the ballot. The deadline for your letter of intent to run is April 26, 2009 Midnight GMT. Once that time is reached I will form the voting ballot and give you the link to vote from.

Section 1 Article 2 Paragraph 5 - One Player Representative from each established Task Force shall serve as a member of the Fleet Council.

1. It is the responsibility of the Player Representatives to represent the interests of the players on the Fleet Council.
2. The Player Representatives shall be elected by their peers—fleet players—in their respective Task Forces and shall serve a term of six months.
3. The Player Representatives may not hold the position of Commanding Officer in any capacity within the Fleet.
1. In the event that the Player Representative becomes a Commanding Officer while serving their term, they must resign their position and appoint a successor to finish their term.
4. The Player Representative may serve no longer than two consecutive terms, however may serve an indefinite amount of terms non-consecutively.
5. The Player Representatives will serve on the Fleet Council with one vote per representative.

Please act soon but not in haste, this is not a sideshow, it is a responsibility. You will be required to attend the council area and participate in it's discussions.

Thank-you

Rear-Admiral Estaban Maturin
Task Force Commanding Officer for Task Force 44

Okay, ya'll.

The Montoya is here which means that search teams are going to be locating and extracting the 50 remaining crew members of the White Dove as yet unaccounted for. If you're writing for one of those remaining 50, its time to finish up whatever you intended to happen before rescue ... or begin writing about a shuttle coming to your location to find you and take you back to the Montoya.

As ever, any questions or concerns, you know where to find me.

Hi, y'all.

Lieutenant Long has decided to leave the ship, effective immediately.

In character, the Lieutenant will remain on board the Montoya, in treatment for his injuries, and be moved to long term care at a Starfleet hospital. Rhianna Mai will depart with him.

The Time Has Come

The White Dove has been destroyed and we're all stranded on Mar Adomi -- at last until the Montoya arrives.

When the mission ends, we'll return to Utopia Planitia where Starfleet will be giving us another ship (with the stern admonishment to at least keep it in one piece until the paint dries). Behind the scenes, members of the crew have been hard at work putting together a new website with all of the information you could possibly want to know about our new ship.

We're not done yet ... a whole lot more is planned.

What won't change. All of our history here on the Dove will remain in tact. This website will stay online. Copies of our posts, bios, etc. will all move to the ship along with us. So we lose nothing. Course, part of having a new ship is the fun of naming things and in that, I need your help.

We need names for:

-- Ten Forward
-- New Aquatics Lounge

Course, it would be darn near impossible to come up with a suitable name if you don't know anything about the ship. So ... to help you along there ... here's the new website:

http://www.uss-tecumseh.com

Please don't post there yet ... we haven't actually been given the ship yet. :-)

One other thing.

We also have a number of shuttles, runabouts, and fighters which already have names. However, each of you reserves the right to say -- I hate that name. You can only say this once however and when you do, it becomes your responsibility to come up with a suitable new name. If more than one of you hates the same name, you'll have to come up with something jointly. No fair hating more than one name! And once its changed, it can't be changed again. The only name that isn't changing is the name of the new ship because that's registered in the Exodus Fleet registry ... and ...well ... I already bought the domain name.

Fair enough?

Have fun wandering around and looking at things. Kick the tires a bit. Send me emails for any typos, mistakes, etc.

Hi, y'all.

Please join me in welcoming Ensign Reese Jasec to our Science Team. In character, Ensign Jasec will be on board the USS Montoya, the ship that's been sent to rescue the White Dove's crew and provide support while we finish the mission. Welcome aboard, Reese!

Ensign Grindlebone has been placed on the inactive roster. While on the inactive roster, he will not be part of our missions going forward.

Never Ending Day

Hi, y'all.

Web Genius, who doubles as our XO, rightly pointed out to me at lunch today that MD1 is becoming impossibly long. Already so far,

-- We left DS285
-- Dropped off the Bayitians on Seresti V
-- Made our way to Mar Adomi
-- Away Team began its investigation
-- Energy Beings trashed the Dove
-- Predator found the ship
-- Found Energy Beings and convinced them to leave the ship
-- Warp Core Breach
-- Abandoned the ship
-- Used the ship to destroy the predator

All that, in one really, really long day. So, can we say that the ship explodes at night on the planet? And that at long last, the day is over?

Thanks to Koe for pointing out what should have been obvious!

Death of the Dove

Category: Simm Announcement

I just posted the complete destruction of the USS White Dove this morning.

Those of you with characters on board, please write about your own adventures getting down to the planet's surface. Do you land easily and safely? Do you end up in some remote place? Or being chased by a feral band?

Just remember. Shiloh checked. NO ONE was left behind. That means you can't still be on the ship after he leaves. Other than that, have fun with it. Those of you without characters on the ship, feel free to write the trials of a minor NPC ... maybe even one that doesn't make it to the surface for whatever reason.

Thanks to Rico, we have lots of information on what the shuttles hold.

And in an Out of Character note, in case anyone was worried. This isn't the end of the game. Not by a long shot. Once we finish up this mission, all will be revealed. How long it takes you to finish, is up to all of you.

You want to finish up the story line today? Great. I'll reveal tomorrow. You want to take six months? Okay, I can live with that too. Let me know what you want to do.

The two races are:

Auri
El-Auri

El Aurian is a canon race ... completely different.
